Since we are in the brake business, we notice more things when it comes to a vehicle’s braking system than most classic car enthusiasts. Kind of like the house painter that can’t walk into a room without checking the paint line between the wall and the ceiling.
2009/7/1· The burst pressure is ok , but you need to find out what kind of rubber it is for it . If not specified for brake fluid , will deteriorate quickly if not . Brake fluid eats up rubber and makes it swell . Now some steel braided is made for brakes .
Approved Brake Lines PTFE Use: The PTFE liner and stainless steel braid eliminates hose expansion common to original factory rubber brake lines which gives a better braking performance. High performance auto sport braking systems.

Use teflon tape on tapered pipe threads for sealing (very old English cars sometimes have these on brake lines) For SAE 45° flare and AN 37° flare fittings, the threads are straight (like a bolt) and using a sealant on the threads is more of a weather barrier than preventing a leak.
Teflon hose is seldom specified for routine hydraulic or pneumatic systems, but dominates in aerospace and tough industrial environments. Here’s how to choose the right hose and avoid several common mistakes while doing so.
Not only do brake lines not need Teflon tape, it would be dangerous to use Teflon tape on your brake lines in the first place. If you’re considering using Teflon tape on your brake lines then you know you’ve got a problem on your hands.

2013/6/5· We are prepping to finish the brake install and the plan all along was to use "factory" style rubber hoses. I was just asked why I don''t want to use stainless braided brake lines. Several people have told me not to do this, due to the strain that the braid can cause on the inner teflon sleeve.
2011/8/13· I actually did a Mazda RX7 IMSA GTU car back in the early 80s with all -3 stainless/teflon lined hose and it really wasn''t bad. It was raced for several years with out problems. Do not use -4 (1/4 inch) line, -3 (3/16) is much stiffer and has less oil under compression.

2007/5/30· There''s no such thing as a stainless-steel brake line that''s "not lined with any material"; ALL stainless-steel brake lines are really Teflon lines with a protective stainless-steel-braid cover. The ends of the hoses have to be securely attached to the brake calipers and the hard lines, so each hose is terminated by threaded hose-ends.

2015/7/12· Never use compression fittings on a brake system, they are not designed to handle the line pressure. Never use copper line. A small amount of antisieze can be used on the threads to help when taking the fitting apart. Do not use anything on the flare or seat. There

“I have been double flaring brake lines for street rods for 30 years with great success. My latest project, a 32 Ford Roadster, had 6 fittings that I could not get to seal. After continuously trying to tighten the fittings, hoping that the joint would seal, I couldn’t eliminate the weep in the brake system.
2004/1/28· Re: Brake line connections: pipe dope, teflon tape or nothing?.. I suspected that was the case, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks for the responses. So that goes for all the connections except the bleeder screw, where it can come in handy, right?
